STUDY OF HIGH TEMPERATURE ENGINEERING TEST REACTOR (HTTR)

WITH MOX AND MINOR ACTINIDES AS A FUEL

Klo paper yang satu ini, jauh lebih percaya diri waktu presentasinya. Soalnya ini emang hasil kerja mandiri terpantau (kermantau) dulu waktu ma Pak Waris. Jadinya, lebih ngerti.

ceritanya tentang :

High Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) is one type of high temperature reactor with helium as a coolant developed by Japan. HTTR has been designed with thermal output until 30 MW and 9500C of outlet temperature. Beside produces electricity, HTTR also designed to produce hydrogen, a future energy source. Originally, HTTR using uranium for its fuel. Nowadays, Non-proliferation becomes a constraint in any nuclear reactor study. Non-proliferation strategy proposes that there is no need to separate plutonium with minor actinides (MA) in the spent fuel reprocessing process.

In this study, we simulated HTTR with plutonium and minor actinides as the loaded fuel, to support non-proliferation. This simulation is performed using SRAC program, with nuclear data library was derived from JENDL3.2. Reactor core calculation was done by using CITATION module in – R – Z geometry. We also evaluated the composition of fuel along burnup. We enriched the U-235 from 6.0 % – 20.0 % with added plutonium and minor actinides 10.0 % in total number of fuels.

The calculation results show that the effective multiplication factor (Keff) is higher than 1 when the enrichment of U-235 is 17.0 %, which means that this reactor can achieve its criticality condition.

Intinya ngeganti bahan bakar HTTR yang umumnya pake Uranium alam diganti dengan Mixed Oxide (Uranium+Plutonium) dan Aktinida Minor untuk mendukung program Non-proliferasi.

Klo di reaktor nuklir hasil yang diamati itu faktor multiplikasi efektifnya (Keff). Apakah bisa diatas 1 atau enggak. Soalnya reaktor baru bisa dioperasiin kalo Keff-nya udah diatas 1.

hasilnya :

Keff Fuel Cell MOX

Jadi, kekritisan itu baru didapet pas pengayaan U-235 udah 19% setelah ditambah plutonium dan minor aktinida.

Sedangkan klo pake uranium alam aja, baru diperkaya 6% udah mencapai Keff > 1.

Kesimpulannya :

Plutonium and MA may not be utilized in HTTR with helium coolant due to neutron spectrum and burnable poison characteristics of several isotopes.

A Comparison of Two Methods in Finding Ratio between Electric Field and Accelerating Potential in Thomson Tube Experiment

Nah itu judulnya.

Sebenernya gak nyangka kerjaan ini bisa dipresentasiin di APS. Soalnya ini kerjaan iseng2 ama 1 temen sekelompok di Fislan (Agustina) waktu jadi Asisten Pengembangan Modul.

Pas nyari2 modul baru di lab Fislan (Fisika Lanjut), dapet modul Thomson Tube. Terus, Qta coba simulasiin lagi. Dan kebetulan dapet modul referensi dari luar, jadinya bisa sebagai pembandingan.

Terus Pak Dudung (a.k.a Sparisoma Viridi) nyuruh Qta memperdalam eksperimennya dan siapa tau bisa dimasukkin ke APS.

Walhasil, jadilah kerjaan iseng2 ini jadi berhadiah.

Ceritanya paper ini teh tentang :

By knowing the pairs of coordinates (x, y) along electron trajectory in Thompson tube experiment using only accelerating potensial U and deflecting potensial V ratio between deflecting electric field and accelerating potensial E/U can be found. Information of (x, y) along the trajectory is obtained by digitizing image of it using two type of rectangular grid. The first has tilt angle of 0 º and the second 45 º. A simulation using JavaScript is used to produce several artificial electron trajectories. Digitizing process uses two methods.The first is manually using hand (ballpoint and ruler) by dividing grid lines into 10 lines and the second using Portable Digitizer (PD) software. Two kinds of input are used and analyzed using the two different grids and the two different methods. The results show that manual method is better than the digital one and the  result using 0 º tilt angle grid is better than the  45 º one.

Singkatnya, membandingkan metode pengolahan data yang mana yang lebih bagus dipake buat di Lab Fislan nantinya.

Perhitungan secara matematis-nya dari persamaan sederhana gaya Lorentz ama Hk. Newton II aja.

Pake softwarenya JavaScript (made in Mr. Dudung :D).

Proses Digitalnya pake Pocket Digitizer Program, dapet dari Lab Fisbum.

Klo proses manualnya mah pake penggaris ama pulpen weh …

Semper stress bgt nih pas ngolah data ama bikin full paper-nya.

Beberapa hari itu emang bnr2 baru tidur jam 3an pagi, bangun sholat subuh bentar, tidur lagi bentar, bangun lagi jam 8an, terus ke kampus lagi konsultasi data (ama ngurus2 buat wisudaan jg sih :P).

Tapi … emang lega bgt pas udah selesai .. apalagi udah presentasinya … fyuuuhh .. serasa jadi scientist sejati dah .. :))

The Trajectories of an Electron under Non-uniform of Electric Field

Satu modul sama tentang Thomson Tube, cuman beda point of view yang diambilnya.
